We call the day before
The afternoon before your move, Paul calls to confirm the arrival time. Not a text from a system, a call from the person who will be there.
A set arrival time, and a heads-up
You get an agreed time, not a four-hour window you have to sit inside. When the crew is on the way, they call again with a thirty-minute heads-up so you are not watching the street.
The same crew, start to finish
The crew that loads your things is the crew that unloads them. Whatever comes apart to get out of a Brooklyn doorway gets put back together at the other end by the same hands that took it apart.
Same day
A local Brooklyn move is finished the same day. The plan we make before the date is what keeps it from running into the evening.
Brownstones, Walk-Ups, and Elevator Buildings
Brooklyn is a borough of stairs. Where the damage happens and where the hours go is the stairwell, and it is not yours, it belongs to the building.
A brownstone stair is narrow, it turns at the landing, and the piece of furniture that came up it years ago came up in the hands of someone who has since forgotten how. The banister, the wall corners, the treads, and the doorframe at the top all take the hit if a crew is dragging rather than carrying. That is why the wrapping happens in the room, before anything is lifted, and anything that will not make the turn comes apart at the top of the stairs instead of being fought down them.
The newer elevator buildings run on a different set of rules: a certificate of insurance on file with management before the crew comes up, and a service elevator booked into a reserved window that closes whether the truck is empty or not. On the row-house blocks the variable is parking, because alternate-side rules and a full curb decide how far every box has to travel. We ask about all of it before we quote.

From a Park Slope brownstone to a Williamsburg loft to a two-family in Bay Ridge, the work changes street to street. We move across Park Slope, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, and the rest of the borough. A prewar walk-up in one neighborhood and a high-rise in the next are different days, and the quote is built from the building, not the name of the area.

Brooklyn Moving FAQs
Do you charge extra for walk-ups and stairs in Brooklyn?
Stairs are part of what the day is made of, so they are in the number you get before you book, not a surcharge that appears after. A fourth-floor walk-up and a fourth floor with a service elevator are two different jobs, and we quote them that way. Tell us the floor and whether there is an elevator and you get an honest price for the actual carry.
Can you do a certificate of insurance for my Brooklyn building?
Yes. Most of the newer elevator buildings in Brooklyn will not let a crew past the lobby without a certificate of insurance naming the building as an additional insured. Send us your building's requirements and the managing agent's contact when you book, and it goes to management before the date.
How do you handle parking on a Brooklyn block?
Where the truck can legally stand decides how far every box has to be carried, and on a lot of Brooklyn row-house blocks that is most of the work. We plan the truck around your street and its alternate-side rules so the carry is as short as it can be, and that distance is priced into the quote instead of discovered on the day.
Will my sofa make it down a brownstone stairwell?
That is the first thing to work out, because a Brooklyn stairwell turns at the landing and the turn is what decides whether a sofa comes out whole or comes apart. Anything that will not make the turn gets taken apart at the top of the stairs and put back together at the other end, by the same crew, rather than fought down and wrecked.
How far in advance should I book a Brooklyn move?
We can usually get to you within four to seven days. Book earlier at the end of the month, when the whole city moves at once, and earlier still if your building needs a reserved elevator window, since that is the longest wait and the building has to give it to you.
